How the Peking Acrobats Relate To Business

Peking_AcrobatsThis weekend I took the family to see the Peking Acrobats.  First I must suggest if the opportunity presents itself, you should bring your family to see this very talented group. In an age of technology, this is a simple show based on folk art tradition but you will still be amazed at the bravery, execution and dexterity.

As I watched their performance it was very visible that they spent many hours practicing and training. Many of the events required complete trust of the groups and any mistakes could have resulted in serious injury or even death.  We do not normally face that in our everyday life but what was perfectly clear in their performance was the simple fact of how much more could be accomplished with a group if each person did their job perfectly and always considered their co-workers.  We all depend on each other and in the end, a team’s performance and dedication can be the difference between success and failure.

A Moving Experience at Susan G. Komen Headquarters

Susan G Komen for the CureI just returned from a three-day affiliate leadership conference at Susan G. Komen foundation Headquarters in Dallas, TX.  I was there with my team as a sponsoring partner introducing Pink Pole Balance Walking to the groups.  In all the years I have been attending conferences and meetings, this one ranked right at the top.  It was inspiring, motivational, informative and for a cause worth fighting.  As a male and one of the fortunate attendees that had not been personally impacted by breast cancer, I really did not know what to expect.  I have left this conference in awe,  inspired and challenged to make a difference and I pledge to do so.

Too many touching experiences to name- there was the exceptional reading of founder Nancy G. Brinker’s new book Promise Me (Nancy is Susan G. Komen’s sister, founder and driving force of Susan G. Komen for the Cure). I also experienced the hundreds of affiliates and supporters meet with each other and share their own unique and special stories.  This is an incredibly positive movement of companies all making a significant impact.

Everyone showed participation in some program or way that helps others. It has the ability to re-engage you and give new meaning to the word life. Its time to stop sitting on the sidelines and join the fight-choose a cause that is right for you, but do it- you will be a changed person.

Health Care Today

As entrepreneurs, we look at the facts and the issues of health care today – please take the politics out of it (yes, I mean both parties). I am aware everyone has their own view- we are never going to get everyone to agree. With the country in deep economic trouble, we must focus on basics. You can only spend what you have and you must do it wisely.

Why should the government be any different than you or me?  If you were a business person running a failing company, you would have to make hard choices. There are so many single things that could be done to improve the existing system, why is the focus on all or nothing?  You have the power to change things. This year, send a message that the good old boy network is dead and we will not accept the bs any longer.

Born Again American

Born again americanBy now I am sure you’re tired of the pathetic news coverage and performance of our Political system. The simple facts- just about every one would be fired if they were working in any business or industry that I am aware of.

It is the people’s voice that must be heard;  everyone must be held accountable for their job performance….nothing else matters.

At a time when we should be watching every penny we spend, we focus on spending more.  At a time when we should be focusing on the most critical problems, we waste time on other projects.

These comments have nothing to do with whether you are a Republican or Democrat, they have to do with what you,  a Political Representative, get paid to do. This isn’t about party lines and issues, its about solving the problems (not worrying about the next election)…..do your job or leave.  I hope people are upset enough to ensure their voice is heard loud and clear at every election.

This was passed along to me from a friend- if you enjoy it, please pass it on.  My position? Enough is enough…..
